inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. North Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Erick Frendiz, asked the public to play an active role in safeguarding the area to prevent any public security disturbances.
"As we know, recently there has been a rumor saying there will be another riot just like last August, where an unknown group of people suddenly gathered and attacked public facilities and police stations," explained Erick on Thursday (2/26/2026).
He urged the public to remain vigilant for the next few days. "Keep your eyes and ears open tonight and for the next few days to prevent any public security disturbances," Erick emphasized.
Reflecting on an incident in August 2025, a group of people threw stones at the North Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Headquarters. These attacks provoke nearby people to join in the attack.
"These people's main objective was to create chaos as much as possible. After people were provoked by them, they then ran to the back. As soon as the arrests were made, they fled," said Erick.
He hopes that everything will run smoothly during Ramadan, with fasting and prayers going smoothly without any disruption.
