Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  Putri Kusuma Wardani won a bronze medal at the 2025 BWF World Championships in Paris, ending a decade-long medal drought for the nation in women’s singles. 

Putri’s campaign stopped in the semifinals after a 17-21, 21-14, 6-21 defeat to Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi at the Adidas Arena on Saturday (30/8/2025), according to antaranews.com.

“It’s incredible to win this bronze medal here,” she said after the match, noting her tough journey, including a quarterfinal victory over former world champion P.V. Sindhu.

Her achievement marked Indonesia’s first women’s singles medal at the World Championships since Lindaweni Fanetri in 2015, while the last gold came from Susi Susanti in 1993. Ranked ninth globally, Putri said she was proud but acknowledged the need to improve her focus, stamina, and adaptability.
