inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Riau Islands Regional Police implements the Blue Light Patrol method to prevent thuggery in the Riau Islands region, especially Batam City.

"The Blue Light Patrol is a patrol with two-wheeled vehicles in the Batam City area aimed at maintaining security, public order, and preventing potential thuggery disturbances," said the Director of Samapta Polda Kepri Sr. Comr. Pol. Joko Adi Nugroho in Batam, Monday.

The middle-ranking Polri officer said that the patrol targeted a number of strategic points in Batam City, such as at Gajah Mada street, PT Tunas Industrial, Cipta Land Area, Hotel 01 Area, and PT Sarana Industrial Point.

"These areas are considered vulnerable to potential public order disturbances, especially at night until early morning," he said.

Furthermore, the Head of Public Relations of the Riau Islands Police, Senior Superintendent. Zahwani Pandra Arsyad explained that the blue light patrol implies that all patrol personnel are turning on their blue strobe lights during the patrol.

According to him, this effort provides an early prevention effect while ensuring that the police presence is visible to the public and perpetrators of crime.

He said the targets of this patrol include crowded centers, industrial areas, ports and settlements. Blue light personnel also monitor community activities to anticipate potential violations of the law, especially acts of thuggery.

"The Riau Islands Regional Police will take firm action against all forms of thuggery that disrupt the comfort of residents, business actors and the investment climate in Riau Islands," he said.

From the results of this patrol, he said, it shows that the situation in the Riau Islands region is safe and conducive, no prominent disturbances were found along the patrol route.

The three, he continued, will continue to be carried out routinely and sustainably, as an effort to prevent and provide real protection from the Police to the community.
