Inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas) of Riau Regional Police reported 1,726 motorcycle accidents in the region from January to October 2023, resulting in 1,905 casualties. Director of Ditlantas Police Senior Superintendent Taufik Lukman further revealed on Tuesday (14/11/23) that there were 279 incidents involving public passenger vehicles, 462 cases with cargo vehicles, 49 bus-related accidents, and 33 incidents with special-purpose vehicles. In response to this alarming situation, Ditlantas Riau Regional Police and its team are implementing the Helmet Discipline Month (Bulan Tertib Helm or BTH) throughout November 2023, specifically targeted at motorcycle riders, both drivers and passengers. The BTH initiative employs direct education and socialization through traditional and digital media channels. In addition, the police will issue warnings, engage in interactive dialogues, and enforce the law through electronic ticketing (ETLE). "Every motorcycle rider is obliged to use helmets that comply with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), regardless of whether they are drivers or passengers," he said.
