Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) chief and Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman confirmed that rice prices are stabilizing ahead of the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year holidays, backed by stronger supply, tighter distribution oversight, and new government controls.
“Ahead of the holiday season, the government ensures price stability for strategic staple foods, especially rice. As of early November, 214 districts and cities have recorded declining rice prices,” he said in an official statement on Sunday (16/11/2025), published by antaranews.com.
Government data show the number of regions reporting price drops has continued to rise compared to early October. SPHP rice is selling at around Rp12,000 per kg, while medium rice averages Rp13,000, both below the government’s price ceiling. Authorities said this shows the market is under control despite reports of temporary increases in several areas.
A national task force formed on 20 October 2025is now intensifying price monitoring with police, ministries, state logistics agency (Bulog), and local governments. Bulog is also boosting regional reserves to anticipate higher holiday consumption.
