Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Shell Indonesia has denied claims that employee layoffs were linked to government fuel import policies following reports of shortages at private gas stations.
“Shell Indonesia clarifies that the information circulated is not true,” company management told antaranews.com on Sunday (28/9/2025).
The clarification came after social media posts from several Instagram accounts alleged that Shell had dismissed staff due to fuel import issues. Shell explained the video in question actually showed a routine team briefing and a farewell for a staff member transferring to another station.
Earlier, Shell Indonesia President Director Ingrid Siburian acknowledged operational adjustments at Shell stations due to supply challenges, including shorter hours and temporary staff furloughs. She emphasized that these measures were not layoffs.
Despite limited gasoline availability, Shell stations continue to operate, offering Shell V-Power Diesel, Shell Recharge, lubricants, and convenience services. The company said it is working to stabilize fuel distribution across its network.
