Inp.polri.go.id - Labuan Bajo. Six flights were cancelled on Monday (18/8/2025) following the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki in East Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), officials confirmed.
The cancellations affected departures and arrivals from Maumere, Ende, and Bajawa.
“Flights to and from those three destinations had to be cancelled due to the eruption,” said Ceppy Triono, the Head of Komodo Airport Authority in Labuan Bajo, as reported by antaranews.com
He stressed that Komodo Airport remains operational and free from volcanic ash after hourly paper tests showed negative results.
The Geological Agency’s Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) reported the eruption at 8.08 pm local time, with an ash column rising approximately 500 meters above the summit, or 2,084 meters above sea level. The ash plume, thin to moderate in intensity, drifted north and northeast.
Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is currently at Level IV or Alert, the highest danger level. Residents and visitors are advised to stay at least six to seven kilometers away from the crater.
