Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has inaugurated  Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin as Chief Executive of the National Defense Council (DPN) in a ceremony held at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday (16/12/2024).

In the same event, Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan was inaugurated as Secretary of the DPN. The appointments were based on Presidential Decree No. 87M of 2024, according to antaranews.com..

Both officials took their oaths of office, pledging loyalty to the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia and committing to fulfilling their duties with integrity and responsibility.

The DPN is tasked with formulating comprehensive defense policies, as outlined in Law No. 3 of 2002 on National Defense. It serves as an advisory body to the President on defense strategies and the mobilization of defense components.

The council’s primary responsibilities include assessing and drafting integrated national defense policies to ensure collaboration between government institutions, non-governmental organizations, the public, and the Indonesian Military.

Its structure consists of permanent members—such as the Vice President, the Ministers of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Home Affairs, and the TNI Commander—and non-permanent members, appointed as needed by the President.
