inp.polri.go.id - The Director of Traffic Unit of Metro Jaya Police, Police Commissioner Latif Usman proposed setting office hours in DKI Jakarta as a solution in overcoming the density on the streets during work hours.
"Almost everyone starts their activities at 7, 8, 9 o’clock in the morning. So almost all of them will leave the house at the same time which then caused a density on the streets,” explained the Traffic Director of Metro Jaya Police.
Dirlantas said that his party had conducted a study to solve the density of vehicles in DKI Jakarta which would be coordinated with the relevant agencies. "We are now coordinating with the relevant agencies. Hopefully this can reduce the road density in the morning hours,” he explained.
In his explanation, Commissioner Latif Usman gave an example that employees who went to work at 7 o'clock then usually will go home at 14.00 WIB. Same goes for the employees who went to work at 8 o'clock, usually will go home at 3 o'clock. So they don't go home at the same time.
"There is a policy of 8 hours of work. So they should have not go home at the same time. However, what happened now is, starting at 16.00 WIB to 20.00 WIB, the density is very astounding," he explained.
Latif also said that the accumulation of vehicles was seen at a number of points, such as three toll entrance points to Jakarta, from Cikampek, Jagorawi, Merak-Tangerang to Jakarta. Then on arterial roads, such as Kalimalang, Cakung, Bogor, Depok, Lebak Bulus, Jagakarsa, Lenteng Agung, and Daan Mogot.
