Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Kalimantan Regional Police are preparing to harvest 30 hectares of corn, the first such cultivation on swamp land in Indonesia, aims to support the national food security program.
"The corn we planted has grown well and is ready for harvest. This is the first corn planting on wet or swamp land in Indonesia," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan on Wednesday (16/4/2025).
Following the harvest, located in Gambut, Banjar District, plans to expand corn and horticulture planting areas will involve the South Kalimantan Agriculture and Food Security Office. The corn was planted on 21 January 2025, and is nearing three months of growth.
The initiative is part of a nationwide effort led by the Indonesian National Police (INP) and Ministry of Agriculture, with the goal of increasing food availability.
Governor Muhidin praised the innovation, noting that this breakthrough marks a significant step in ensuring food security for the region.
