inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) emphasized that every Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) kitchen unit must employ at least 30 percent of its workforce from underprivileged communities, particularly the poor and extreme poor (deciles 1 and 2).
"This is a direct directive from President Prabowo. The MBG program is not only about nutrition, but must also create jobs for underprivileged communities," said BGN Special Staff, Redy Hendra Gunawan, Tuesday (July 29, 2025).
Of the 47 workers at each SPPG, at least 14 must come from poor families.
To date, 2,378 SPPGs have operated in various regions, partnering with more than 6,000 local economic institutions such as cooperatives, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to supply food. In fact, 93,572 local residents have been actively involved as volunteers.
The MBG program itself has reached more than 7.4 million beneficiaries, including 3 million elementary school students, 2 million junior high school students, 1.6 million high school students, as well as pregnant women, toddlers, Islamic boarding school students (Islamic boarding school), and other learning communities.
BGN is not stopping there, targeting the addition of 2,401 MBG kitchens in the next 10 days, bringing the total number of active units to 4,788, with a projected beneficiary population of 15 million.
"We are going forward as fast as we can. In the near future, millions of people will directly experience the benefits of MBG," said Redy.
