Inp.polri.go.id - Mataram.  Swiss citizen Emmenegger was airlifted from Mount Rinjani on Lombok Island after a serious fall during a trek on Wednesday (16/7/2025).

He was evacuated in stable condition by helicopter following a coordinated search and rescue mission.

“Emmenegger was flown to BIMC Hospital in Kuta, Bali, for further medical treatment,” said Mataram Search And Rescue (SAR) Chief Muhamad Hariyadi, who led the rescue operation.

The incident occurred near the Segara Anak Lake trail, about 25 minutes before the Iron Bridge landmark. Emmenegger, accompanied by a guide and porter, began the hike on 15 July 2025 via the Sembalun route. A distress call was received the following morning and relayed to SAR authorities.

A joint team involving park rangers, military, police, and Bali Air executed the complex helicopter rescue.

Emmenegger was accompanied by his son and a Spanish doctor during the flight.
