The Directorate of Drug Crimes, Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police, together with the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Aceh Regional Police and Customs and Excise, succeeded in uncovering cases of illicit drug trafficking in the Malaysia-Indonesia network. The disclosure is the result of Sandi Baruna's 2021 operation.
Director of Narcotics Crime at the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police, Police Brigadier General Krisno Halomoan Siregar, explained that the disclosure began with information that large quantities of drugs had been picked up from Malaysia to Aceh waters.
"When found on the ship, there were two men with the initials FR as the captain and HB as a transporter. Both were controlled by SJ," he explained at a press conference at the Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police, Thursday (12/23/2021).
The suspect SJ admitted that another suspect controlled him with the initials SF alias HT based on the preliminary investigation.
"We suspect that the person concerned (SF), who is the controller, is an Indonesian citizen, to be precise, from Aceh, but is currently in Malaysia. He gave the order to pick up large quantities of drugs," he explained further.
As a result of the arrest, several pieces of evidence were seized. Among them, starting from 222,000 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 90,000 grams of ecstasy, and 47,500 pills of happy five (H5).
For their actions, the three suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a death penalty or a minimum sentence of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years with a fine of Rp. 1 billion.
As well as, a subsidiary of Article 112 paragraph 2 in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph 1 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with a minimum penalty of 5 years and a fine of Rp. 800 million.
