inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said that the money circulation due to economic growth in villages after the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program reached IDR 6 billion within 1 year.

In his speech when launching the Indonesian Planting Movement (Gerina) program in Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province, Wednesday, Prabowo said that the money circulation in villages before the implementation of MBG was only around an average of IDR 1 billion per year.

"With the Nutritious Meals program, the money circulating in each village has increased (to) IDR 6 billion a year. Minimum (IDR) 5 (billion), 6 (billion), some are 7 (billion), some are even reaching 8 billion. What was previously only (IDR) 1 billion circulating in the village has become (IDR) 6 billion per village," said Prabowo as quoted by Antaranews, Wednesday (4/23/2025).

The President explained that the rapid increase in money circulation in the village was because the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) as the MBG implementer absorbed and purchased regional agricultural commodities as raw materials for the MBG menu.

Each Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in each village that serves as the MBG kitchen will certainly absorb various vegetable and protein commodities that are processed into menus in the MBG. In the end, the village economy can grow significantly.

"Because every day to feed the children, the National Nutrition Agency needs to buy eggs, chicken, fish, vegetables, tomatoes, carrots, and cucumbers. This is  what makes the village economy, the sub-district economy, alive," said Prabowo.

President Prabowo also noted that the government is targeting the number of beneficiaries of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) in the first year of its launch to reach 82.9 million children and pregnant women by the end of 2025.
