The Indonesian National Police (INP) prepares thousands of personnel for the rally of 2024 General Election protest in front of General Election Commission (KPU) Office and DPR/MPR Building on Wednesday (3/21/2024). “In this security operation at KPU office and DPR/MPR Building, there are 1,910 personnel stationed around KPU building and 1,145 personnel in DPR/MPR Building,” says Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police, Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro on Wednesday (3/20/2024). The police chief says that traffic engineering will be applied situationally, depending on the situation at the field. However, police is prepared to divert the traffic if its necessary. Susatyo implores people who usually crossed in front of DPR/MPR Building and KPU Office to instead use alternative routes. For the people participating in the protest, Susatyo implores them to also respect the others who are not protesting. “I also emphasized to all personnel involved in the security operation to always act persuasively, not easily provoked, and prioritized negotiation. They are also encouraged to prioritize negotiation and continue to serve the people,” told Susatyo. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
