The Acting Head of State Civil Service Agency (BKN) Haryomo Dwi Putranto says the policy of maternity leave for state civil servants (ASN) is in line with the government target in creating quality human resources in realizing 2045 Golden Indonesia. The policy took a serious consideration of father’s role in accompanying his wife after labor and getting close with their children in its earliest stages. It is noted that the maternity leave for ASN requirement will be renewed after Law No 20 of 2023 was published. The policy renewal has become one of the contents in the latest Draft Government Regulation (RPP) for ASN Management which is currently being prepared by the Government. The new maternal leave will not only accommodate female ASN who just giving birth, but also male ASN who has to accompany his wife after giving birth. Haryomo states that the new maternal leave for ASN will regulates the duration of the maternity leave, both for female and male ASN. “The government is currently discussed the issue by asking to the related parties. With the new management RPP, there will be a policy that will regulate in detail about the rights of maternity leave for male ASN to accompany their wives after giving birth or after miscarriage,” conclude Haryomo.
