Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin confirmed Tuesday (16/9/2025) that Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers will continue securing key government facilities, including the House of Representatives (DPR) complex in Senayan, Jakarta.
“TNI will guard the parliament as a symbol of state sovereignty. I have approved it, and the Commander will coordinate with service chiefs to ensure protection,” he told reporters after a hearing with the DPR’s Commission I, as reported by antaranews.com
Minister Sjafrie said the deployment, initiated by the Defense Ministry, began during mass protests in late August that escalated into riots in early September. Soldiers have since been stationed at several government buildings, including the DPR and People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).
Although the situation has calmed, he stressed there are no plans yet to withdraw troops. Armored vehicles, including Anoa carriers, remained parked at the DPR compound on Tuesday, with Army and Marine personnel maintaining security to reassure the public.
