Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources confirmed that the deployment of the Indonesian Military (TNI) to guard state energy company PT Pertamina-owned oil refineries starting December 2025 is part of a national security synergy.
The policy was announced after the government designated refineries as strategic energy assets.
“We welcome this decision as a form of national security synergy, especially because refineries are strategic industrial facilities,” said ESDM spokesperson Dwi Anggia on Tuesday (25/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
She said that refineries are categorized as national vital objects crucial to energy sovereignty, and military protection is expected to strengthen stability of national fuel supply and prevent security disruptions in the energy sector.
PT Pertamina also supported the decision.
“This synergy provides layered protection to ensure the operations of vital state facilities,” said VP Corporate Communication Muhammad Baron, responding to the policy announced by Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
According to the minister, the security task would be carried out through Territorial Development Battalions (BTP), which are being expanded nationwide.
