Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has issued a directive to the Traffic Corps of the INP to take a proactive approach to prevent traffic violations by foreign tourists following the Bali incidents, which highlighted the need for the Traffic Corps to act swiftly and effectively.

Head of the Public Relations Division of the INP Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo addressed the importance of preventive action, saying that the Traffic Corps must not be "firefighters", who respond to a viral incident. Instead, he said, the Traffic Corps must take measures to prevent such incidents from happening

He highlighted the crucial dissemination of regulations in popular tourist destinations to ensure that the tourists be aware of and comply with local traffic regulations.

"Law enforcement must be humane and not selective. Foreign tourists should feel safe and comfortable during their visit to Indonesia. The police understand that foreign tourists are one of the indicators of Indonesia's attractiveness that has a positive impact on the economy," the general said.
