Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi emphasized that there is no outright ban on trucks during the 2025 Eid AL-Fitr transport period, but only operational restrictions aimed at ensuring smooth traffic flow and road safety.
"There is no ban on freight transport. This regulation is designed to maintain public service while allowing trucks and the Eid homecoming flow to proceed together," he said on Monday (17/3/2025).
The restrictions apply to trucks with three or more axles, those with trailers or semi-trailers, and those carrying mining materials, excavation products, and construction materials.
Despite the restrictions, trucks with two axles are allowed to operate, and freight transport may continue under police discretion during specific hours. Vehicles transporting fuel, cash deliveries, livestock, fertilizers, disaster relief materials, and staple goods are exempt from the restrictions.
Minister Dudy cited 2024 accident data, which recorded 186 major incidents, with 53 percent involving trucks.
He highlighted their potential to cause traffic congestion due to lower speeds. However, he assured that logistics transport remains unaffected and supply chains will remain safe.
