Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan has called for the harshest possible punishment for the two Indonesian Military (TNI) soldiers allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting of three police officers in Way Kanan, Lampung.
“The TNI Commander and the Chief of the Indonesian National Police must take firm action. The legal process must be transparent, and the heaviest punishment must be imposed without favoritism,” he asserted on Tuesday (18/3/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The two suspects, identified as Assistant First Lieutenant Lubis and Senior Corporal Basarsyah, reportedly opened fire during a police raid on an illegal cockfighting operation in Kampung Karang Manik, killing three officers on the spot.
Minister Budi Gunawan condemned the attack as a grave offense and assured that investigations would proceed without interference.
Meanwhile, Sriwijaya Military Command Head of Public Information Colonel Eko Syah Putra Siregar confirmed the military’s commitment to holding those involved accountable, stressing that strict sanctions would follow if their culpability was proven.
