The Indonesian Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi reminds people who will travel in the homecoming season to go earlier before the homecoming season flow is at its peak. It was predicted that the peak of homecoming traffic flow would be on April 5th to April 8th. “The peak of the homecoming flow that we predicted would be D-4, D-3, D-2 of Eid. Therefore, we urged people who are able to go earlier, to do so,” says Minister Budi in his written press statement on Monday (3/25/2024). Budi explains that by going earlier, people could avoid traffic congestion during travel. Meanwhile, Budi also suggested people to not travel by motorcycle. “You could instead use public transportation or join a free homecoming program presented by the Transportation Ministry or other institutions. The reason why you should not travel far by motorcycle is because it is too dangerous,” implored the Minister. Furthermore, the Transportation Ministry also established the Eid Transport Integrated Command Post which will serve travelers from April 3rd to April 18th. The ministry also hoped for all police ranks to continue monitoring areas prone to traffic jams. (ad/rz/pr/nm)
