Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Two Indian men, Muhammad Azhar (31) and Rahmat Jihar (27), were found guilty by the North Jakarta District Court on Monday (30/6/2025) for violating Indonesia’s immigration law.
Both were fined Rp 10 million and ordered to pay Rp 5,000 in court fees for failing to report their change of address while staying in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta.
The court ruled they had breached Article 116 of Law No. 6/2011 on Immigration. Immigration officer Caesar Ali from the Tanjung Priok office said the sentence is meant to deter similar violations.
Both men cooperated during the trial and admitted their wrongdoing. After paying the fine, they will be placed in detention pending deportation. Immigration authorities also plan to impose an entry ban.
The case began when the two claimed to be investors planning to open a coffee shop, but failed to present valid passports during a check. Authorities emphasized the importance of foreign citizens complying with reporting obligations under Indonesian law.
