Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Office reported that 2,098,685 residents aged 19 and above have not married, comprising 1.2 million men and nearly 900,000 women out of a total 7.78 million people in that age group.
“The high-paced lifestyle in Jakarta — driven by economic needs, intense competition, career development, and education — has contributed to delayed or even avoided marriage,” said Jakarta Population and Civil Registration Head Denny Wahyu Haryanto on Sunday (20/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He also noted that high living costs create anxiety about starting a family. On average, men marry at 30–31, women at 27–28.
To assist couples, Jakarta offers online marriage services through the Alpukat Betawi app and in-person registration at Dukcapil offices. Marriage at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) during work hours is free, while outside hours it costs Rp 600,000.
