Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police Directorate of General Crime Investigation has arrested two more suspects in an online gambling case allegedly involving individuals from the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs.
"The Crime and Violence Sub-directorate detained two more suspects connected to the online gambling scheme involving the Ministry," said Metro Jaya Police Director of Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra, on Sunday (10/11/2024).
The two suspects, identified as MN and DM, were reportedly en route to Indonesia, with an expected arrival at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport at 7 pm local time, according to antaranews.com.
Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi confirmed the arrests, detailing that MN’s role was to submit lists of websites to the Ministry, aiming to bypass government blocks, while DM allegedly managed funds from the gambling operations.
Chief Ade noted that MN is on the police's wanted list, while DM is not.
Further details on whether the suspects are government officials or civilians remain undisclosed. In this case, the police have named 15 suspects, including 11 ministry staff and four civilians, and seized cash assets totaling Rp 73.7 billion.
