The man from Ukraine was said to be hiding in Thailand after his laboratory was busted by the police.
The Drug Criminal Investigation Director of Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa said that Roman was escaping to Thailand in Mei 2024 and has been staying there for 109 days after his drug laboratory was discovered by the police.
“Roman Nazarenko is a Ukrainian that has been named as a fugitive by the police since May 2024. His Red Notice also has been released by the interpol for his role in operating hydra networks that operated through Clandestine Lab by producing mephedrone and hydroponic marijuana in Badung Regency, Bali," he said at Terminal 3, Soekarno Hatta Airport, on Sunday (12/12/2024).
Mukti explains that Roman was arrested when he was about to continue his escape to Dubai. Shortly after the police received the information of his whereabouts, The Indonesian Police Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok immediately coordinated with all relevant stakeholders to arrest Roman.
"He was successfully secured at U Tapao Rayong Airport, Thailand when he was about to depart for Dubai," explained Mukti.
Investigators then charged Roman with Article 114 subsidiary 112 subsidiary 127 with a minimum death sentence of 5 years and a fine of Rp10 billion.
