Inp.polri.go.id – West Sumatra. The West Sumatra Regional Police implore the public who want to go back to their hometown to leave early to avoid traffic congestions. “If it's possible, it is best for you to leave early to avoid getting trapped in the traffic jam,” says the Vice Head of West Sumatra Regional Police, Brigadier General Gupuh Setiyono on Wednesday (4/4/2024). Gupuh says that people should not wait longer as they could have been met with traffic jams during travel. Gupuh quotes the data of the Transportation Ministry which predicts that there would be at least 193.6 million people that would travel to their hometown this year. “If you have the time to go, then go. The earlier the better,” urge Gupuh. The Traffic Director of West Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Dwi Nur Setiawan, predicts that the peak of homecoming traffic flow would be on April 5th to April 7th. In anticipation of the peakflow, police have prepared various strategies such as one-way System from Padang to Bukittinggi, and vice versa. On the other hand, West Sumatra Regional Police also established 91 posts consisted of 42 security posts, 45 service posts, and 4 integrated posts. (ad/pt/pr/nm)
