In demonstrating the commitment to ensure the success of the general election, Yogyakarta Regional Police and General Election Commission (KPU) officially signed a cooperation pledges for the 2024 General Election, which was held at Eastparc Hotel on Tuesday (12/19/2023). “This cooperation is a positive movement in ensuring the general election would go smoothly. The collaboration between KPU and police will be the key in providing an environment that is conducive and secure during the election,” says Yogyakarta Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Suwondo Nainggolan. Suwondo emphasized that the secured environment is an investment for the region as people’s income and economic growth are depending on how secure the environment is. “With this, I hope all community element to unite in maintaining the security situation as it is part of vital investment for the province, particularly during 2024 General Election,” explains Suwondo. Meanwhile, Head of Yogyakarta KPU weighing in at the importance of the cooperation pledges and believe that the chemistry between KPU and Police will bring a significant contribution for the security. “With the pledges signing, it is hoped that we could build more optimized chemistry so that the election in Yogyakarta would go successfully and in accordance with the strong democracy principles,” conclude Yogykarta KPU Chair.
