Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Yangon has identified 144 Indonesians allegedly exploited by an online scam trafficking syndicate in Myawaddy, Myanmar, and is coordinating their evacuation to Indonesia.

“The embassy has established direct communication with all 144 individuals at three separate locations and obtained complete personal and passport data,” the Indonesian Embassy in Yangon said in a statement on Saturday (1/11/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

Of the total, 54 Indonesians are now in safe areas, while 90 others remain at two known scam hubs, Gate 25 and Gate UK999. Another 58 people were detected at a fourth site but have yet to submit identification documents. The embassy said it is persuading them to cooperate.

Evacuation will be conducted through the Myawaddy–Mae Sot border, with the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok assisting the Thai entry process. Since 2020, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has recorded over 10,000 online scam cases involving its citizens, with around 1,500 identified as human trafficking victims.
