Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Religious Affairs has joined forces with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to monitor its key programs, including the Hajj pilgrimage, aiming to ensure transparency and accountability.
“We’ve asked the KPK to assist in overseeing crucial programs, particularly Hajj operations and education,” Religious Affairs Minister Nasaruddin Umar said during a press briefing at the KPK headquarters on Tuesday (19/11/2024).
With significant funds managed by the ministry, he stressed the importance of rigorous oversight at both central and regional levels.
“We’re committed to prevention through better coordination, monitoring, and support from the KPK,” he explained, as reported by antaranews.com.
The ministry will also reactivate a previous memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the KPK to strengthen anti-corruption efforts.
“This step reflected our commitment to meeting public demands for a clean, effective, and efficient institution,” Nasaruddin added.
KPK Deputy Chairman Nurul Ghufron highlighted that while the Hajj Financial Management Agency now oversees most Hajj operations, the ministry handles certain aspects during the transition.
The meeting also discussed ethical training for KPK staff to enhance integrity in combating corruption. Follow-up technical discussions are planned to implement collaborative initiatives.
