inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. A Daihatsu Grand Max car driver with the initials IW (34) died on the spot after the car he was driving was hit by a water tanker truck on the Kopo-Katapang Highway, Bandung Regency, West Java, Friday (5/23/2025) morning.

Head of the Bandung Sub-regional Police Traffic Unit, Police Assistant Superintendent Danu Raditya confirmed the accident and both vehicles involved have been evacuated from the scene.

"Yes, there has been a traffic accident. Both vehicles have been evacuated," said Danu when confirmed.

Danu explained that the accident began when the Daihatsu Grand Max car driven by IW was driving from Katapang towards Soreang at high speed. There was also a passenger in the car with the initials BP (40).

"When he arrived at the scene, the driver allegedly could not control his vehicle, then swerved and changed lanes too far to the right," he said.

He revealed that at the same time, from the opposite direction came a clean water tanker truck driven by YP (44), with passenger R (23).

"As a result of the collision, the Grand Max car driver suffered serious injuries and died at the scene. Meanwhile, his passenger only suffered minor injuries, as did the truck driver and passengers," he said.

He said that currently all victims have been evacuated and taken to the nearest hospital for further medical treatment.

Danu added that the evacuation process had caused congestion around the location. However, traffic conditions have now returned to normal.
