Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Hasto Wardoyo, the Head of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN), highlighted adolescents as key to Indonesia's future human resource quality and demographic bonus, on Monday (26/2/2024).
"Adolescents significantly influence stunting rates, as those bearing stunted children are in their productive years, shaping both human resource quality and demographic bonuses," he said.
He emphasized the joint goal of BKKBN and the Indonesian Family Planning Association (PKBI) to foster quality human resources, stressing collaborative efforts to advance human resource development, especially in preparation for the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Identifying challenges in human resource development, including maximizing the demographic bonus, maintaining high standards, and promoting quality family structures through effective family planning programs, he highlighted Indonesia's aim to exceed the WHO's global stunting rate recommendation by achieving a 14 percent reduction in stunting.
Moreover, he addressed the rising prevalence of mental disorders such as ODGJ and other mental health issues.
"Teenagers label them as 'toxic people.' They either form alliances with like-minded individuals or with mentally healthy counterparts, leading to toxic conflicts. Their toxicity, even without stunting, heightens error susceptibility, which is concerning," Hasto noted.
Expressing concern over these trends' potential impact on family development, he said, "We concur that PKBI and BKKBN will steer families toward quality, serene, self-reliant, and joyful family dynamics, with reproductive health issues being a shared focus."
