Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) confirmed Friday (1/8/2025) it will no longer pursue an appeal in the sugar import corruption case involving former Minister of Trade Thomas Trikasih “Tom” Lembong, after he received presidential abolition from President Prabowo Subianto.
“All legal processes and consequences are concluded,” said Sutikno, the Director of Prosecution at the AGO, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The abolition, formalized under Presidential Decree No. 18/2025, applies solely to Tom Lembong, without affecting the legal proceedings of 10 other defendants in the same case.
“The crime still exists. This only applies to Mr. Lembong. The others will continue to face legal proceedings,” Sutikno said.
The AGO received the official decree Friday night and is coordinating with the Central Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office to process Lembong’s release from Cipinang Prison.
Tom was implicated in alleged corruption during his term at the Ministry of Trade from 2015 to 2016 related to sugar import licenses.
