inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized the importance of the strategic role of the Indonesian National Police (INP) in overseeing and assisting rice absorption to ensure that government policies are implemented effectively in the field to realize food self-sufficiency.
"We would like to thank the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit who has overseen this self-sufficiency effort so that it can be realized as quickly as possible," said the Minister Andi Amran on Tuesday (2/11/2025).
He hopes that all stakeholders including INP can work hard and commit to realizing food self-sufficiency together.
Meanwhile, the Head of INP Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada emphasized his party's commitment to overseeing the acceleration of food self-sufficiency effort through monitoring the distribution and absorption of rice to ensure that it is in accordance with the Government Purchase Price (HPP) policy of IDR 6,500 per kilogram.
INP, said Wahyu, are also ready to take action against rice mills that violate the rules and harm farmers.
"In our monitoring, we found various problems in rice distribution. We have taken firm steps to ensure that rice absorption is in accordance with the rules, and if necessary, we are ready to take legal action against violations that harm farmers," said Wahyu.
One of the main focuses of INP's supervision is to ensure that large-scale rice mills absorb 20 percent of farmers' rice in accordance with the policy set by the government. However, until now, this target has not been fully achieved which makes encouragement to be important in making all parties committed to the rules.
In addition to protecting the interests of farmers, INP also pays attention to price balance at the consumer level.
Wahyu emphasized that the policy must be managed well so as not to cause price disparities that could harm one party.
