Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Political parties have suspended several high-profile lawmakers, including Ahmad Sahroni, Nafa Urbach, Eko Patrio, Uya Kuya, and Adies Kadir, following mounting public anger over recent unrest and controversial remarks by the legislators.

“Public aspirations must remain the main reference in the struggle of the NasDem Party,” said Hermawi Taslim, the Secretary General of NasDem, in Jakarta on Sunday (31/8/2025). 

He confirmed that Sahroni and Nafa would no longer serve in the House of Representatives (DPR) starting Monday, after a decree of their non-active status signed by party chairman Surya Paloh.

The decisions came after days of nationwide demonstrations and incidents of looting, including attacks on Sahroni’s residence in Tanjung Priok, Jakarta. 

The National Mandate Party (PAN) also suspended Eko Patrio and Uya Kuya, while Golkar Party removed Deputy Speaker Adies Kadir from his seat.

Party leaders said that their non-active statues were taken to uphold discipline, integrity, and respect for public sentiment as discontent over lawmakers’ privileges and conduct intensified.
