inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) of the Ministry of Law emphasized that synergy with Indonesian representatives abroad is crucial in expanding the reach of intellectual property (IP) protection.
Director General of IP Hermansyah Siregar stated that ambassadors not only serve as diplomats but also as drivers of economic diplomacy, ensuring that Indonesian IP-based products are recognized and protected in the international market.
"We view the role of Indonesian representatives abroad as highly strategic in expanding the reach of Indonesian IP protection. Through targeted diplomacy, superior national products are not only recognized but also legally protected in partner countries," said Hermansyah in Jakarta on Wednesday (3/25/2026).
Through diplomatic activities such as exhibitions, cultural promotions, and international forums, superior Indonesian products, including geographical indications like coffee, batik, and regional commodities, can be widely introduced while strengthening their legal standing.
Therefore, Hermansyah emphasized that DJKI continues to maintain close coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian Embassies (KBRI) to ensure that IP issues are addressed comprehensively.
In addition to serving as a promotional tool, the Indonesian Embassy also serves as an information gateway, bridging communication between the Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights (DJIP) and stakeholders abroad, including regarding IP protection and law enforcement systems.
"This allows for a faster and more accurate response to various issues that arise at the global level," he said.
