inp.polri.go.id - The Main Navy Base (Lantamal) X and the Papua Police commemorate the 77th Indonesian Independence, Wednesday, August 17, 2022, by raising the Red and White flag under the sea in Tanjung Swaja, Jayapura. The raising of the red-and-white flag under the sea was also carried out in 77 points throughout Indonesia. At Tanjung Swaja, the under-sea ceremony was attended by 53 personnel. Commander of Lantamal X Jayapura Brigadier General Feryanto Pardamean Marpaung said the underwater ceremony was held simultaneously at 77 points in Indonesia in commemoration of the 77th Indonesian Independence Day. While in Tanjung Swaja, the ceremony was at a depth of 12 meters and was carried out for about 50 minutes, said Brigadier General Marpaung. Director of Water Police of Papua, Commissioner Andi Anugrah, said Papua Police supports the activity by deploying their qualified divers. "The ceremony under the sea is carried out to raise the awareness to preserve the sea by being clean and unharmed the coral reef," said Commissioner Andi.
