Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, officially inaugurated and blessed the Pura Santa Citta Bhuwana, the first Balinese Hindu temple in Europe, located in the Netherlands.

The ceremonial inauguration was held in line with Balinese Hindu tradition, known as melaspas, and coincided with the celebration of Hari Raya Kuningan.

“This is the first temple in Europe built entirely by the Balinese community through mutual cooperation (gotong royong), with construction materials brought directly from Bali,” said Governor Koster on Sunday (4/5/2025).

The temple is located in Kallenkote, Netherlands, within Taman Indonesia, a park owned by Marlisa and Diederik Wareman, who donated the land to the Bali Abdi Samasta Foundation. The temple project, initiated in 2023, was fully funded by the local Balinese community, supported by the Indonesian Embassy in the Netherlands and the Bali provincial government.

Indonesian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Mayerfas, who attended the inauguration, remarked that the temple's completion is a source of pride not only for Balinese Hindus but for all Indonesians living abroad.
