Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia has emerged as a major global contributor to the manufacturing industry, ranking 12th worldwide in Manufacturing Value Added (MVA) with a value of USD 255.96 billion (approximately Rp 4.26 quadrillion), according to Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita on Sunday (4/5/2025).

Based on 2023 data from theglobaleconomy.com, Indonesia’s MVA increased by 36.4% from 2022 (USD 241.87 billion or Rp 4.02 quadrillion), marking the country’s highest historical record in this sector.

“This achievement reflects the strategic role of Indonesia’s manufacturing sector in the national economy, placing us on par with developed countries such as the UK, Russia, and France,” said the Minister, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Indonesia’s manufacturing performance significantly surpasses ASEAN peers, with Thailand and Vietnam ranking 22nd and 24th respectively, contributing only half of Indonesia’s MVA.

Indonesia’s manufacturing sector contributes 18.67% to its GDP, the highest among all sectors. Key export-oriented industries include food and beverage, textiles, metals, automotive, and electronics.
