Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.  The Banten Regional Police will take firm action against anyone raising the One Piece pirate flag instead of the Indonesian national flag during the 80th Independence Day celebration.

“If someone is proven to have violated the rules and fails to raise the Red-and-White, we will take firm action,” said Banten Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hengki on Saturday (2/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

He emphasized that displaying the fictional pirate flag is a form of provocation that undermines the dignity of Indonesia’s national flag and disrespects the sacrifices made by national heroes.

Hengki urged the public, especially in Banten, to express nationalism by properly flying the Red-and-White.

The controversy follows reports of the One Piece flag being displayed in other regions ahead of Independence Day celebrations.
