inp.polri.go.id - Pandeglang. The Banten Regional Police have explained a traffic accident that resulted in the death of a child in Pandeglang Regency. The incident occurred on Tuesday (1/27/2026) at around 12:30 p.m. on the Labuan-Pandeglang Highway, specifically in Gardutanjak Hamlet, Pandeglang Village, Pandeglang District, Pandeglang Regency.

"The accident involved a Suzuki XL7 car and a Honda Revo motorcycle. The motorcycle's passenger, KR (11), died at the scene," said Banten Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Maruli Ahiles Hutapea, on Monday (2/23/2026).

Based on the initial investigation, he said, the incident began when MA, the driver of the motorcycle, was traveling from Pandeglang toward Labuan. While passing the accident site, the motorcycle allegedly hit a pothole, causing it to swerve and fall.

According to him, the victim, who was a passenger at the time, was thrown to the right and went under the car driving alongside him, where he was crushed by its rear tires.

Maruli explained that the Pandeglang Sub-regional Police Traffic Accident Unit had taken a series of police actions, including processing the crime scene, collecting witness data, examining the vehicles involved, and confiscating evidence.

In addition, his unit had submitted a request for a Post-mortem Examination (VER) and submitted a Notification Letter on the Progress of the Investigation Results (SP2HP) to the family.

He further explained that his unit had also written to the Banten Province Public Works and Housing (PUPR) PJJ Technical Implementation Unit (UPT PJJ) regarding road conditions at the scene. Road repairs were carried out immediately on January 30, 2026. Maruli emphasized that the case is still under investigation and no suspects have been named.

"We need to emphasize that the case is currently still under investigation. No suspects have been named. Investigators are still reviewing all evidence and witness statements professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable law," he said.

He also urged the public not to speculate and to await the official results of the ongoing investigation.
