Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State electricity company PT PLN in Bali confirmed that extreme weather conditions disrupted the Java-Bali interconnection system on Sunday night, causing localized blackouts across all nine regencies on the island.
The disruption, which began at 7.39 pm local time, triggered automated protection systems designed to isolate the grid and prevent widespread equipment damage. Full service was successfully restored by 8.36 pm local time following rapid emergency maneuvers by technical teams.
"When interference is detected, the system automatically sheds load to prevent broader impacts and keep the infrastructure safe," explained Eric Rossi Priyo Nugroho, the General Manager of PLN Bali, on Monday (23/2/2026).
Authorities clarified that while Badung and Karangasem were most affected, the outages were largely confined to specific distribution feeders rather than total provincial collapses. PLN also dismissed viral rumors suggesting week-long rolling blackouts, reassuring the public that the current power supply remains stable and sufficient. Residents are encouraged to monitor the PLN Mobile app for official updates and ignore unverified information regarding further outages.
