inp.polri.go.id - The Bengkulu Regional Police managed to confiscate 1,000 liters of subsidized diesel fuel and arrested the suspect EW (32), from Pasar Manna District, South Bengkulu Regency. Head of Public Relations of the Bengkulu Police, Commissioner Sudarno in Bengkulu City said that the EW was arrested by members of the Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Air and Water Police Directorate of the Bengkulu Police for misuse of subsidized fuel. "Some time ago the Directorate of Water and Air Police has secured 1,000 liters of subsidized diesel fuel which was transported by four-wheeled vehicles in the Baai Island area of Bengkulu City," said the Head of Public Relations, Thursday (18/08/2022). He explained that the bio-diesel subsidized fuel was used by the suspect for the needs of heavy equipment vehicles, while the subsidized fuel was intended for fishermen to find fish in the sea. He said the chronology of the arrest of the suspect was when the officers stopped a vehicle suspected of abusing the fuel, and managed to confiscated approximately one tonne bio-diesel fuel. The fuel was transported by the suspect using a four-wheeled vehicle and the fuel was taken from the Solar Packed Fisherman Dealer (SPDN) of Bina Laut in the Baai Island area of Bengkulu City. During the examination, the suspect admitted that the fuel would be taken to the Tugu Hiu area to be used for heavy equipment. "We know that the fuel is intended for fishermen, so it cannot be sold to anyone other than fishermen," explained the Head of Public Relations. In the arrest, apart from confiscating 1,000 liters of subsidized fuel, his party also confiscated a four-wheeled vehicle, and the suspect will be charged with Article 55 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas which has been amended as referred to in Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. Currently, the suspect is still undergoing further examination at the Bengkulu Police to determine whether there are additional suspects or not.
