Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Bhayangkara Police Hospital in Surabaya has received 45 body bags from the collapsed Al Khoziny Islamic boarding school in Sidoarjo, East Java, as of Sunday evening.
“As of today, we have received a total of 45 body bags sent to Bhayangkara Hospital Surabaya,” said Senior Superintendent M. Khusnan, Head of the East Java Regional Police Medical Unit, during a press briefing on Sunday (5/10/2025).
Of the total, 10 victims have been identified, five in Sidoarjo and five at Bhayangkara Hospital, according to antaranews.com
Chief Khusnan added that four of the body bags contained body parts, and DNA samples from all have been sent to Jakarta for identification.
He explained that DNA testing remains the primary method for confirming victims’ identities, requiring samples from both the remains and their families.
The collapse of Al Khoziny’s prayer hall in Sidoarjo last week trapped dozens of students and teachers. Search and identification efforts continue under police coordination.
