Inp.polri.go.id - Blitar.  The Blitar City Sub-regional Police in East Java invesitgatedthe discovery of two corpses in a dog shelter located in the Karangtengah sub-district, Sananwetan district in Blitar following a report from concerned residents about a foul odor around the shelter. "The corpses were already decomposed, possibly for more than three days. Currently, the bodies have been taken to the hospital," said  Superintendent Hendro Utaryo, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Blitar Police on Monday night (1/1/2024). The bodies will undergo an autopsy to determine the cause of death, antaranews.com reported. "There were some bloodstains, so the forensic doctor is the one who can confirm the cause. We are still investigating the case," he added. Meanwhile, the neighborhood's community unit chairperson, Siswanto, said that residents were disturbed by the unpleasant odor coming from the shelter. "I went to the location, and after the investigation, there was a corpse. It turns out there was another corpse inside," he said. The victim was known to the local residents as Erlin (47), who lived with an assistant whose name is currently unknown. During the evacuation process, authorities faced difficulties as the door was locked. Eventually, it was forcibly opened, and they gained access to the victim's house. Inside the house, authorities also had to be cautious, using long sticks, as there were dozens of dogs in the shelter. Some dogs were confined to a room with a long fence, while others roamed freely. Therefore, officers used long sticks to control them, making the evacuation process easier. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
