inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo is promoting good and constructive industrial relations between workers and employers amidst the rapidly changing landscape of the workplace.

He made this statement at the inauguration of the All-Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSPSI) AGN Regional Leadership Council (DPD) building in Surabaya, East Java, on Friday (8/21/2026).

According to an official statement, Sigit stated that workers play a crucial role in the national economy. The country's economic growth is inseparable from the contributions of workers who drive the wheels of production, industry, trade, and the economy every day.

However, he stated that the struggle to improve workers' welfare must go hand in hand with efforts to maintain the sustainability of the business world and Indonesia's competitiveness.

The INP Chief also highlighted the communication that has been established between labor unions and employers, including the Indonesian Employers' Association (Apindo), in discussing various labor issues.

He considered this dialogue a positive development, as workers and employers can sit together to find common ground.

"This is a good start," he said.

According to him, the agreements reached through joint dialogue can serve as a foundation for building better industrial relations.

"Hopefully, this will be a breath of fresh air in industrial relations in Indonesia," he said.

On the same occasion, the Bhayangkara Corps leader also highlighted the role of the INP's Manpower Desk in assisting in resolving various workers' issues.

From 2025 to date, the INP's Manpower Desk has handled 324 industrial relations cases, including cases involving 1,062 KSPSI AGN workers. Furthermore, 4,505 workers affected by layoffs have been facilitated to return to work at several companies.

Sigit also emphasized that resolving various labor issues must prioritize open communication and clear mechanisms.
