inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) reminds the public, especially the younger generation, to be aware of the spread of extremism and terrorism through massive digital space.
"We can see the 2024 Outlook which is more targeted at threats in the digital space. So, we can see various aspects of how young people must be anticipated in preventing terrorism and extremism in the digital space," said Young Expert Policy Analyst/Sub-Coordinator of Non-Governmental Cooperation BNPT Alfroda Heanitu Panjaitan in Semarang, Tuesday (6/3/2025).
He conveyed this on the sidelines of the Screening of a Documentary Film entitled Road to Resilience and a Book Review entitled Anak Negeri di Pusaran Conflict Syria.
According to him, the comparison between the number of Indonesian residents and internet users is also very high, which means the great influence of the digital space on society.
As a real implementation of the Strategic Communication Roadmap in the National Action Plan for the Prevention and Countering of Extremism (RAN PE), BNPT is working with various parties to organize activities such as the screening of the film.
Anti-terrorism expert and activist Dr. Noor Huda Ismail reminded that BNPT had seen a shift in the trend of the spread of terrorism ideology and identified it in last year's outlook.
"In my opinion, they will focus on this form in the future and continuously get stronger. The narrative that we push is not only radicalization, religion, but also character," she said.
Therefore, all parties need to work together, for example the education office that will oversee character building, then the Ministry of Communication and Digital related to digital literacy.
Previously, he said, those who were trapped in terrorism could be easily identified from certain community groups. However, lately it tends to be random and can be anyone, from housewives, college students, to rich people.
"If you focus on the old approach, which begins from extremist preaches, now they can learn it all from TikTok. That's why I think the next step is more towards the digital aspect," said the Director of the Prasasti Perdamaian Foundation
