inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. A total of 63,100 lobster seeds worth IDR 189 billion that were to be smuggled to Jambi were successfully thwarted by a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Palembang Sub-regional City Police Traffic Unit, Tuesday (6/3/2025).

Information gathered about the arrest of tens of thousands of lobster seeds originating from Lampung began when a member of the Palembang Sub-regional City Police Traffic Unit, namely Brigadier Robi, was conducting routine patrols on the street.

There, he saw one of the car drivers driving recklessly and Robi immediately called his colleagues at the Nilakandi post, totaling 6 people, and reported the incident to the Head of Traffic Unit, Superintendent Finan S Radipta.

At that time, they immediately gave chase and tried to stop the vehicle. However, when it was successfully stopped, one of the drivers was not happy and fought back. When the police officers were checking, they saw a white styrofoam box suspected of containing lobster seeds.

When searched, sand and pearl lobster seeds were found. Because the driver resisted, at that time Finan immediately coordinated with the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Superintendent Andrie Setiawan.

Immediately, officers from the Criminal Investigation Unit of  the Palembang Sub-regional City Police immediately went to the scene of the crime and secured the two drivers, namely Sahat Silalahi (41), and his assistant M Haryawan (29), both of whom are residents of West Lampung.

Officers secured evidence in the form of 11 boxes of styrofoam, consisting of 10 large boxes and 1 small box, 1 large box containing 6,000, 1 small box containing 3,100 or a total of 11 boxes containing 63,100.

"It is true that this arrest began when members of the Traffic Police conducted routine patrols of drivers who were going against the flow in the Nilakandi area. Then they saw a black Avanza car with the license plate number BE 1298 DQ, which was driving recklessly," said the Palembang Sub-regional City Police Chief, Senior Superintendent  Haryo Sugihartono.

Haryo further detailed that the total value of these lobster seeds is approximately IDR 189 billion. "So for his actions, the perpetrator is threatened with the Job Creation Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning the Job Creation Law amending the Fisheries Law with the threat of eight years in prison and a fine of Rp2 billion," he concluded.
