Body of Indonesian Shot in Malaysia to Be Returned After Autopsy

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has confirmed on Tuesday (28/1/2025) that the body of the  Indonesian citizen, identified as B, who was shot to death by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM), will be repatriated following the completion of the autopsy process.

According to a statement from the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia was informed by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) on Monday that B, who died in the incident, was from Riau, Indonesia.

"The Embassy will handle all procedures related to the preparation of his body and facilitate its repatriation to the deceased's hometown," the statement said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Meanwhile, four other Indonesian citizens who were injured have received medical treatment at a local hospital and are reported to be in stable condition. The Embassy is scheduled tol visit them on Wednesday.

The shooting occurred on 24 January 2025 in the waters off Tanjung Rhu, Selangor, after the ship's passengers allegedly resisted.
