inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Zakat Agency (Baznas) reveals the potential allotment of 2025 national zakat can reach up to 604,813,992 tons of rice or equivalent to IDR 8 trillion.
The potential for zakat fitrah is calculated based on the total Muslim population in Indonesia, which reaches 244.41 million people. Of that number, 91.43 percent are estimated to be outside the poverty line, according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) as of September 2024.
The calculation is done by multiplying this amount by the average price of rice of IDR 14,337 per kilogram.
"If managed properly, zakat fitrah will not only be serve as the pillar of Islam, but also a strategic instrument to improve people's welfare," said Head of Baznas RI for Planning, Studies, and Development, Zainulbahar Noor on Sunday (3/23/2025).
However, based on the growth trend of zakat fitrah collection in the 2021 to 2024 annual balance sheet which increased by an average of 21.28 percent, he revealed that the projection of zakat fitrah collection in 2025 is only estimated to reach IDR 631.77 billion.
"With optimization of management, utilization of digital technology, and coordination with other zakat institutions, this figure is estimated to increase to IDR 758.13 billion," he said.
Therefore, he highlighted that this is a great opportunity to maximize the collection of zakat fitrah.
In the future, he said that Baznas will also tighten supervision of zakat management, so that funds are truly distributed in accordance with sharia provisions.
"We want to ensure that every rupiah collected provides real benefits to mustahik," he said.
